Client Charter

At Askapsych, we are committed to providing safe, respectful, and high-quality psychological care. This charter outlines what you can expect from our service, your rights as a client, and how we work together in the therapeutic process.

What you can expect

As your psychologist, you can expect:

  • To be treated with respect, dignity, and professionalism
  • A safe, supportive, and confidential environment
  • Care that is culturally responsive and respectful of your background and identity
  • Clear information about services, treatment options, and fees
  • Evidence-based psychological care tailored to your needs
  • A collaborative approach to goal setting and therapy
  • Transparency regarding confidentiality and its limits

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Be treated with respect and without discrimination
  • Be involved in decisions about your care
  • Ask questions and receive clear information
  • Provide or withdraw consent at any time
  • Access information about your care where appropriate
  • Receive ethical, professional, and high-quality services

Your role

To support the therapeutic process, you are encouraged to:

  • Provide accurate and relevant information
  • Attend sessions as scheduled or provide appropriate notice
  • Engage in therapy to the best of your ability
  • Treat your psychologist and staff with respect
  • Provide feedback where appropriate

Privacy and confidentiality

Your personal information is managed in accordance with Australian privacy legislation and professional standards. Information is kept confidential and securely stored.

There are circumstances where confidentiality may be limited, including:

  • Risk of serious harm to yourself or others
  • Legal obligations (e.g., court orders or mandatory reporting)
  • Where possible, this will be discussed with you.

Feedback and complaints

If you have any concerns about your care, you are encouraged to discuss them directly with your psychologist. We will aim to resolve any concerns in a respectful and timely manner.
